Place a kalash filled with water beside the chowki. Insert mango leaves around the rim and set a coconut on top. The kalash represents abundance and invokes divine presence into the puja space.
Step 3 — Install the Idol (Murti Sthapana)
Place the Ganesh idol on the chowki. It is considered auspicious to keep the idol’s face towards the north or east direction.
Step 4 — Prana Pratishtha
Take akshat and flowers in your hand, invoke Lord Ganesha, and perform the prana pratishtha — the ritual that invokes the living presence of the deity into the idol — while chanting the mantras. Recite “Om Gam Ganapataye Namah” with devotion.
Step 5 — Shodashopachara Puja (Sixteen Offerings)
