How to use today’s panchang

This page shows the complete panchang for today in one place, and it moves to the new date by itself every morning. Pick your city first, because sunrise, sunset and every muhurat change from city to city. Use the Previous day and Next day buttons, or the date box, to see any other date. The short card on the left has what most people check first; everything else is listed beside and below it.

In the morning

Look at the sunrise time if you offer water (arghya) to the Sun or do Surya Namaskar. Brahma Muhurat, shown under Auspicious times, ends about 48 minutes before sunrise and is the traditional time to wake, pray or study. The tithi at sunrise is the tithi of the whole day for vrat and puja, even if it changes later in the day.

Before starting something new

Check Rahu Kaal first. Most families avoid starting new work, signing papers, buying a vehicle or setting out on a journey during it. Yamaganda, Gulika Kaal, Dur Muhurat and Varjyam are listed in the same red box. If you need a good time during the day, Abhijit Muhurat around noon is the simplest choice on every day except Wednesday.

For shopping, travel and business

Use the Choghadiya table. Shubh, Labh and Amrit periods are good for buying, opening a shop or starting a trip. Char is fine for travel. Udveg, Rog and Kaal are best avoided. The period that is running right now is highlighted, so you can decide at a glance. Disha Shool tells you which direction to avoid travelling in today.

For havan, puja and fasts

Agnivas shows whether a havan is suitable: it is done when Agnivas is on earth (Prithvi). Shivvas tells you whether the day suits Rudrabhishek. The festivals and vrats at the top of the card cover Ekadashi, Pradosh, Sankashti Chaturthi, Purnima, Amavasya and the Shraddha tithis of Pitru Paksha. On Sankashti Chaturthi and Karwa Chauth, the moonrise time tells you when to break the fast.

Before a wedding or griha pravesh

Look for Bhadra, Panchak and Ganda Mool in the red box. A note appears whenever one of them falls on the day, because weddings, griha pravesh and other mangalik work are not held at those times. The Panchak Rahita Muhurat list and special yogas such as Sarvartha Siddhi and Ravi Yoga help you find the cleaner parts of the day.

Is today good for you personally?

Find your moon sign (rashi) in the Chandrabalam list and your birth nakshatra in the Tarabalam list. If yours is listed, the day is considered favourable for you. If your rashi is shown with Ashtama Chandra, the traditional advice is to postpone important new starts.

Common questions

Why are the times different from another website?

Times depend on the city and on the exact method. This page calculates the positions of the sun and moon astronomically, with the Lahiri ayanamsa used by the Government of India. Differences of a minute or two between panchangs are normal.

Why does the tithi change in the middle of the day?

A tithi follows the moon’s movement, not the clock, so it can begin or end at any hour. The panchang day runs from one sunrise to the next, so times after midnight still belong to the same day and are shown with the next date beside them.

Can I print or share today’s panchang?

Yes. The WhatsApp button sends today’s tithi, nakshatra, sunrise, Rahu Kaal and festival in one message. The Print / PDF button opens a clean A4 page you can print or save as a PDF.

For weddings, griha pravesh and other major ceremonies, please confirm the final muhurat with your family priest.
